The GRACE 4 RAKAI ministry team passionately strives to listen, support, and love the people of Rakai, Uganda – especially the vulnerable women and children.

Grace Lutheran Church has been reaching out to the people of Rakai over the past several years by funding the Bakery Project, building two water containments, participating in child sponsorship and supporting the Nutritional Farming Initiative. And now we are seeking to do MORE – to share more grace and offer more support to help those in need. As a ministry team, we are holding close to our hearts (and praying fervently) this verse from Ephesians 3:20 – “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is within us, to him be the glory.”

Amazing Grace Bakery

Grace helped fund the bakery in Rakai, which the people there named the Amazing Grace Bakery. Through Noisy Offerings in 2015, Lenten suppers and special gifts, we were able to purchase ovens and mixers, as well as the initial ingredients needed for this Bakery project. FRESH and affordable bread is now available to the people in Rakai for the first time ever!

Child Sponsorship

African Children Today (ACT), a nonprofit organization based in Minnesota, is dedicated to helping children in Rakai, Uganda who have been affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. (This Rakai district of central Africa is ground zero for AIDS). Through this ministry, children receive a solid education, life skills and medical assistance. For more information, visit www.africanchildrentoday.org

Currently more than 115 children in Uganda are sponsored by Grace families!  What an awesome opportunity to create a special relationship with a child in Rakai through letters, photographs and financial support. Your donation – $35 monthly when sponsoring a child in primary school – is used for tuition, school supplies and health care such as malaria treatment.  For just over a dollar a day, your sponsorship will truly bless a child in Rakai with a bright, hope-filled future!
