Who can ever forget Willie Nelson’s famous song: “On the Road Again”? Written for his first leading role in the film Honeysuckle Rose, it describes the ups and downs of an aging musician on tour with his band.

On the road again Just can’t wait to get on the road again

The life I love is making music with my friends

And I can’t wait to get on the road again On the road again

Goin’ places that I’ve never been Seein’ things that I may never see again.

In the song Willie romanticized being “On the Road Again.” But for a lot of us, that’s not often the case, for more often than not, being on the road again also include moments of challenge, difficulties, loneliness, frustration, no-direction, little or no hope.

And this exactly describes the two disciples who are on a road away from the terrible events they had witnessed in Jerusalem. Jesus, the One they had hoped was the long-awaited Messiah had been brutally executed by Rome. And now they trudged on the road out-of-town – dejected and in hopelessly in despair. But God is not willing for them to remain that way. In a very short time, they are going to meet a stranger who can literally transform their despair into great hope! But will they be able to recognize him?

Come and join us on the road again as we gather to meet and celebrate God’s Promise unleashed upon the world.
