Calling all 4th-8th grade students! Worried you might be bored this summer? Worry no more! Summer stretch is a dynamic summer ministry for students who have completed 4th-8th grade! Participants will be dropped off and picked up from Grace Lutheran Church.
We will begin each day with a devotion. Then we load the bus and spend the rest of the morning serving others around the Twin Cities (Feed My Starving Children, Global Health Ministries, helping the environment, etc.) Our afternoons will be full of fellowship and fun (Urban Air, Bunker Beach Water Park, archery, and more)! August 8th we will spend the entire day at Valleyfair.
Incoming 9th-12th grade students can participate as Youth Leaders for a reduced rate. Youth Leaders help to lead games, hang out with participants, and spend time getting to know our awesome middle schoolers!
Need volunteer hours? High school students who are Youth Leaders and are in need of service hours for NHS, civics class, scouts, college applications, or any other volunteer requirements are welcome to count any hours they participate in Summer Stretch. If a High School student has perfect attendance they will receive a total of 48 volunteer hours!

What is the cost of Summer Stretch and what does it include?
The cost of Summer Stretch includes transportation to events (bus), all admission fees to all service and recreational activities, guest speakers, admission to Valleyfair, snacks, and a tee shirt. Register early with your $100 deposit for the cheapest price! The balance is due June 14th. The cost is as follows:
General registration: $375
Early Bird Registration (On or before 5/15/24): $325
What about lunch?
Students are responsible for bringing their own lunch each week. Grace Lutheran will provide coolers and areas to fill up water bottles throughout the day. We also will provide students with a snack each day. Some recreational sites have food for sale – students are welcome to supplement their lunch with treats if they choose to bring money.
Can a friend who doesn’t attend Grace register?
Of course! We love friends! As long as they meet the age requirement they are welcome to join us! Please register friends before they attend by selecting add registrant and type their name in on the registration page.
Do you need adult help?
YES! We MUST have adult volunteers to make this a reality. Please indicate on your child’s form if you are able to spend a day or two this summer with some cool kids! (If you have younger children that need to tag along for the day please contact Pastor Maria – many of our sites will allow younger children if they are supervised by an adult.)
What do participants need to bring each day?
